Influenced by the greats, such as Notorious B.I.G. and Michael Jackson, the well-established Rapper-Songwriter LaPret is earning recognition as an emerging trend-setter. As a founding-member of teen music group Profound Intent, he was elected to an ASCAP Writer & Publisher Membership, shortly after the release of the groups debut single, 2006’s “Play the Field”.
Within the capacity of a businessman, LaPret launched his own independent record label, South Capitol Recordings, in January 2007. He signed not only himself, but also his group Profound Intent. Overtime the label has obtained its own right, in both the “indie” and “major” scopes of the music industry. CEO LaPret, was the first of the labels recording artists, to release under South Capitol Recordings, with 2007’s “Do a Dub” EP
He has been mentored by singers Kelly Price and Lyfe Jennings, He also won the 2007 ASCAP Rising Star Award for Best Male Upcoming Songwriter and was recently announced as a nominee for the 2008 ASCAP Rising Star Award for Best New Male Rising Star (Writer). LaPret has won 7 GarageBand Reviewers Picks Awards with Profound Intent for the hit-single "Work It", at one point this was credited as his best work to date.
LaPret left Profound Intent in late-2007 to follow his dreams of being a solo recording artist; after releasing the singles (Do A Dub and Make U See).
